Marx and the Corporations: Epilogue

From cinephile roots to corporate tales, I reflect on my writing journey, past experiences, and a new adventure on the horizon. Stay tuned!

From cinephile roots to corporate tales, I reflect on my writing journey, past experiences, and a new adventure on the horizon. Stay tuned!

Initially, a few good months ago, when I started writing and publishing articles, I had no plans to write an epilogue for my ten-chapter saga. Then I realized that I would be ending my story abruptly, like a movie with no finish.

By the way, I love movies. My cinephile experience started in fact with books; I was an avid reader in my youth, but over time I transitioned more towards movies, although I still kept a few books around. The place where I graduated in cinematography was the Cinemateca on Eforie Street in Bucharest.

Brilliant movies made by the greatest directors of the second half of the 20th century, such as Fellini, Bunuel, Bergman, De Sica, Antonioni, Hitchcock, Tarkovski, or John Ford still give me goosebumps at the mere mention of their names. To illustrate my dedication, I recall watching several of these great masterpieces while sitting right on the floor of the cinema, as all the seats were already taken. During communism that place was pure magic!

While I was a student at the Polytechnic University, I always had friends or acquaintances. who I often envied, because they were studying humanistic topics. I believe that this inclination sheds light on my desire for writing; I would have enjoyed a career as a screenwriter. Or a DJ, but that is a story for another time.

With all these being said, I want to thank all of you who have read my articles, chapter after chapter, totaling thousands and thousands of readers. Your interest has been amazing and far beyond my expectations! While my rhetoric may have been bitter or negative at times, and perhaps some of the connections I made were questionable, I can assure you that sharing my thoughts with you brought me genuine pleasure.

Trust me, on some occasions, I was mild with my approach; the comments could have been much harsher regarding corporations. Reality beats fiction. I tried to recall as many corporate experiences and insights I gained throughout my career and compare them against the happenings of the communist regime. Some of the ones which could be told.

The feedback I received from many of you has been incredibly encouraging, motivating me to continue writing articles on random topics. I will always publish them on Wednesday - it seems like a good day. Not necessarily every Wednesday, so do not get me wrong.

Last but not least, currently I am not engaged in any business activity other than discussions about opportunities and the IT industry. For a while, I thought I was done with the work in the IT world and put an end to my career, just retiring. However, that changed the moment a group of former business partners, younger than myself - which is not very difficult I must admit, approached me to join them in their new adventure. I was convinced almost immediately by their enthusiasm, maturity, and pragmatic approach. It is possible that my “dolce far niente” times may end soon, and I will meet you again in the marketplace! If you have had enough of your current job and are looking for something a bit different, try revisiting my articles and let me know once the new endeavor announcement goes out.

I am still writing this screenplay, but it seems like it will have many more chapters and a happy ending.
