Introduction
After 30 years in IT, I’m sharing real corporate stories in my new blog, Marx and the Corporations.
One of the very few wishes on my bucket list once I reached a respectable age has been to have a personal blog. These days, when I have a bit of time and have attained that age, I will pursue that wish by opening a LinkedIn blog. I thought about what topics I should address, and it all came down to sharing my long-term experience as a corporate guy within the IT industry.
I have worked for corporations for almost 30 years, so I have a lot to share. I had the opportunity to work and live abroad, run large projects and organizations, meet many people from the corporate environment, a lot of clients, and have a lot of action during my career. I have seen the rise of today's largest IT companies, the development of the offshore and nearshore delivery model, and the incredible transformation that our industry went through in the last quarter of the century. On top of that, I had been living a part of my life and career during the Romanian communist era until 1989, when the so-called Romanian Revolution overthrew the dictatorial regime of Ceausescu. In other words, I have seen it all.
That being said, I will post an episode from my essay every week on Wednesdays for 10 consecutive weeks. I called my essay "Marx and the Corporations". Despite what you might think, Marx is not about the Marx Brothers (the American comedians), which would make some sense as well, but about Karl Marx, the socialist titan, writer of the Communist Manifesto, and Das Kapital, the father of Marxism.
My goal is to make, from time to time, a parallel between these two models, which you will find out are in some aspects quite similar. In the process, I hope that the young generation, particularly, could find juicy stories and examples to use during their future career. All my comments are personal; if you agree or not, please feel free to comment.
Oh, and another small detail: any resemblance with actual facts and people is intentional, as all my stories are based on real facts. I will not use names or numbers or disclose internal confidential info unless they are public knowledge.
Finally, to stimulate your appetite, let me share the title of the first chapter of my saga which will be published Wednesday, 31st of January:
1. The Inception.
